Frameless glass railings in Toronto & East GTA
Frameless glass railings use thick tempered glass mounted in a base shoe or on stainless spigots — no posts, no frame, nothing in the way. Installed across Toronto and the East GTA from $140/linear ft, engineered to Ontario Building Code guard loads.

Two ways to mount it
Base shoe
A continuous aluminum channel bolted to the deck edge or concrete, with the glass clamped inside. One clean line along the bottom, maximum rigidity, and the look most people picture when they say frameless.
Spigots
Stainless steel clamps — usually two per panel — anchored to concrete, stone, or structure. Less hardware cost, easy drainage, and a near-frameless look with a small visible mount at the base of each panel.
Which one fits depends on what you're mounting to and the look you want. Send photos and we'll tell you which way we'd go and why.
The engineering matters
A frameless guard has no posts to lean on — the glass takes the full load the Ontario Building Code requires a guard to resist. That means thicker tempered glass, engineered mounting hardware, and correct guard heights: 36" (900 mm) for most decks, 42" (1,070 mm) where the walking surface is more than 5'11" above grade. Glass guards generally require engineering in Ontario; we install systems where that engineering is already done. More in the Ontario railing code guide.
Where frameless shines
Decks with a yard, ravine, or water view, balconies where every inch of visual space counts, and pool surrounds where you want to watch the water without bars in the way. Compare it against framed glass in our head-to-head comparison, or check the frameless glass cost guide for budget numbers.

Frameless glass questions, answered
How does a frameless glass railing stay up?
The glass itself is the structure. Thick tempered panels are clamped into a continuous aluminum base shoe bolted to the deck, or held on stainless steel spigots. The mounting hardware and glass thickness are engineered as a system to take guard loads without posts.
What does frameless glass cost in Toronto?
From $140 per linear foot installed, plus a $250 base price. It's the most expensive of our three systems because the glass is thicker and the hardware is heavier-duty. A 30 ft run calculates around $4,005–$4,895 depending on mounting and site conditions.
Base shoe or spigots — which one?
Base shoe gives a continuous clean line and suits concrete and well-built decks. Spigots cost less in hardware, show a bit of post at the bottom of each panel, and work well over solid surfaces like stone or concrete. We'll recommend one after seeing your photos.
Is frameless glass safe without a top rail?
Properly engineered frameless guards meet Ontario Building Code without a top rail in many residential applications, though some installs call for a slim top cap depending on the design and inspector. We build to what your specific job requires — no shortcuts.
Does frameless glass need more cleaning?
It shows fingerprints and water spots the same as any glass. A squeegee every few weeks keeps it invisible. If that sounds like a chore, tinted glass or a framed system hides spots better.
Can you replace my old wood or iron railing with frameless glass?
Yes — that's a big part of our work. We remove and dispose of the old railing, check the structure can take the new loads, and install. See our railing replacement page for how that process runs.
